Consent

As part of training, education and research, students and trainees may be involved in observing consultations and learning from case information.
Your participation is voluntary. You can say no and this will not affect the service you receive.

A student or trainee may:

• Observe your consultation.
• Read relevant case information about your animal to prepare for the consultation.
• Discuss the case with the behaviourist after the consultation as part of their learning.

Relevant information from your consultation and case information may be used to help the student or trainee: 

• Prepare for observing the case.
• Learn from the consultation afterwards.
• Prepare for accreditation as a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist.

With your permission:

• Consultation recordings may be viewed by students or trainees being mentored by the clinician as part of their training and preparation for accreditation.
• Photographs and videos you provide may be used for training, education and research.
• Photographs may be published in educational books or articles.
• Photographs and videos may be used for research into animal behaviour and welfare.

Information about your case will remain confidential between you, the behaviourist and the student/trainee. When information is used for teaching, training or research, it will be anonymised unless you have specifically agreed to be named or credited, for example for photographs or videos.
