Professional Behaviour Advice for Vets

We offer behaviour consultations for veterinary professionals which are flexible depending on your needs. We can provide:

  • a one-off discussion on a particular behaviour case
  • a monthly or regular catch-up to talk over specific cases
  • help with client management when an animal caregiver cannot afford a full referral
  • guidance on which behaviour drugs to prescribe and their dosage

Who can attend?

A consultation for professional behaviour advice is a one hour phone/online discussion between a vet and a DVBP veterinary behaviourist. In some cases, the owner's presence can help gain a full understanding of the behavioural issues - this is completely up to you and the owners. If additional attendees are attending, then an online consultation is essential.

Key facts:

  • Duration: 1 hour. Please be aware that the more attendees, the increased likelihood for the consultation to overrun.
  • Format:   Online discussion.
  • A bespoke professional veterinary report can be provided for an additional charge following the consultation, if requested.
  • If deemed necessary, the veterinary beahviourist may also discuss the case with our in-house internal medicine specialist.

What are the costs and how do I book?

You can either get in touch by providing basic information including the name, age, breed and gender of the animal and a brief summary of the case; or, kick-start the process by completing our Behaviour Advice for Vets Questionnaire.

After evaluating the information you provide, we contact you with the cost. In situations where we believe that a behaviour treatment plan or an advisory consultation for the owner would be of more benefit to the owner and their animal than a professional consultation, we would make that recommendation.

Once payment is received, you are sent a scheduling link to book with your selected team member. Find out more about the team.

What information do you need to provide in advance of the consultation?

  1. Behaviour Advice for Vets Questionnaire: Complete the questionnaire to summarise the case and explain your requirements. Any relevant case information including the animal's clinical history and any test results or referral reports are to be attached to the form or can be emailed to info@donovanvetbehaviour.com.
  2. Owner's Questionnaire: If the owners are involved, request the owners to complete this form.
Our admin team will contact you with more information including pricing and detail how to organise an appointment.

Please add info@donovanvetbehaviour.com to your safe senders list or check your spam/junk folder in case our response is filtered there in error.
