Advisory Consultations

You may be unsure whether your animal would benefit from a behaviour modification plan or whether training would be a better alternative. Or perhaps you previously completed a behaviour treatment plan with us and you want additional advice. A consultation (1 hour) with one of our clinical animal behaviourists allows you to discuss your animal and their needs, advise whether we can help and what we propose the next course of action would be. The price covers administration, research, veterinary liaison and a one hour phone/online discussion. If the appointment is complex and requires extended discussion causing the appointment to overrun the additional time would be chargeable.

Euthanasia

In extreme cases, an animal’s behaviour may lead to euthanasia being considered. This is always a very difficult situation where indecision and doubt to whether you are doing the right thing can be almost paralysing. If you are considering euthanasia for your animal, our experienced team can help you review your animal’s current situation, the history and actions undertaken so far to advise you on possible alternative options or methods, offer clarity and recommend the next actions with you and your animal’s wellbeing in mind.

If behavioural euthanasia is the outcome, we can offer advice to ensure your animal is as comfortable as possible and reaches a peaceful end.

What information do you need to provide in advance of the consultation?

  1. Questionnaire: Complete the relevant questionnaire below.
  2. DVBP online referral: Being a referral-only practice, permission is required by your animal's vet to discuss the case. Contact your animal's veterinary practice and request them to complete our referral form and attach the animal’s clinical history and any test results or referral reports to this too, or if they would prefer, they can email it to info@donovanvetbehaviour.com. The vet may request to see your animal if they have not been seen for a while.

Not sure if an advisory consultation is the right option for you and your animal?

It might not be straightforward what option is best for you and your animal. Don't worry, we CAN help you! We just need to know more about you, your animal and your household and some details of what the unwanted behaviour is. You can either Contact Us, or preferably, you can complete and submit one of the questionnaires above for your animal. Please mention that you're not sure which behaviour option is right for your animal. We will then contact you and explain what would be the best next step to take.

Please allow up to 5 working days for a response and add info@donovanvetbehaviour.com to your safe senders list or check your spam/junk folder in case our response is filtered there in error.
